The Barcelona Blues Festival began in 2003 as an initiative of the nonprofit association Capibola Blues, but soon established itself as a city-wide music event. After 13 years of experience and institutional recognition, and thanks to the selfless efforts of a team passionate about this music, has achieved the milestone of becoming a reference of the blues in Barcelona today.
The Barcelona Blues Festival aims to overcome year after year. We are proud to say that each year we present a full program of the best of national and international blues, without sacrificing its traditional social involved side, not just awarded for providing free concerts, but by the spirit of openness and supportive programming that fills concerts in hospitals and prisons that allow access to public and social groups usually forgotten.
The festival seeks to promote the culture of the blues beyond the usual channels with initiatives such as conferences or educational activities that allow the public to bring the genre that maybe they’re initially not interested. Initiatives all based on an open and inclusive conception of the idea that music and culture should be for people.
